About Us

two brazilian black belts and a former HM armed forces airman wanted to do something different.

Coming from a background of international competition experience over three decades, we are excited to bring elements into the local BJJ tournament scene that have not been seen yet.

Not only in the way it is laid out and run but also bringing a year long cumulative point scoring system for annual cash prizes and bragging rights.

How we do things

  • Weigh ins (all weight divisions are listed on our website on the rules tab):

    • Weight is checked when your bracket is called. We suggest you arrive at least 90 minutes before your division is scheduled to start. Reminding that division times change throughout the event. Check smoothcomp for live updates

    • If you are not in the concentration area at the time you are called, you will be disqualified. After a No Show is called the athlete will be disqualified. No exceptions

    • No allowance is given. You must make weight. Athletes that don’t make weight will be disqualified. No exceptions

    • All Gi divisions weigh in wearing the Gi.

    • Adults are not allowed to compete in Summer Gi uniforms

    • Athletes competing in Gi and NoGi. Your weight is checked for both Gi and NoGi, in your respective uniforms

    • If you are competing only in NoGi, you will have to check your weigh before your bracket is called and you must use our NoGi weight chart

  • Athletes’ instructions (competition day):

    • Adults bring a photo ID for the weigh in, kids can bring any ID (we accept valid IBJJF cards). Ages of your smoothcomp information must match with your ID. Any discrepancy results in disqualification

    • As your division time approaches, go to the concentration area to check your weight and inspect your Gi

    • As soon as you see your name on the screen, line up for weigh in and Gi inspection (see uniform session)

    • Remain in the concentration area until the end of your division

    • Look for your ring coordinator and wait to be called. Your ring coordinator will guide you to your designated mat area

    • After finishing your fight, return the competition belts or ankle bands to the table and go back to the concentration area. Please, don’t stay around the mat areas

    • Go to the podium area immediately after your division is done if you are a medalist

    • Clear up the concentration and competition area after you finished competing

  • Uniforms

    • All Gis will be inspected for measurements and ideal conditions (please see the Gi chart for sizing and patches on our website on the rules tab)

    • Youth male, youth female, and adults female divisions are allowed to compete with rash guard under the Gi.

    • All jewelry must be removed before the uniform inspection and weigh ins

    • Any type of joint braces is not permitted. Kinesio or athletic tape are permitted

    • Only White, Blue, or Black Gis are permitted

    • Please see the Gi chart for sizing and patches

    • Uniforms must be clean and not ripped in any parts

    • Belts cannot be ripped and must have a black, red or white bar (see the uniform session on our website)

    • NoGi shorts cannot have zipper buttons or pockets

    • NoGi athletes must compete with shorts or tights and rash guards. Gi pants are not permitted for NoGi matches
